Inspired by an epic Alpine ski and boarding trip in Hakuba in Japan, and whilst at the top of an impressive black run called Kurobishi, long term friends and the founders of KURO Craig & John were inspired to develop their own Gin brand having worked with many other Gin brands over the years in their chosen field of graphic design.
Upon their return from Japan in early 2017 they worked through almost 40 versions of liquid to perfectly capture the essence of the Japanese Alps, through the complex arrangement of 12 botanicals. Leading with three Japanese natives: Bamboo, Silver Birch & Spruce, Craig & John worked with a renowned Master Distiller to lock the recipe together and balance the flavour of what is now KURO Gin. Since the launch in late 2017 KURO (which means black in Japanese) has already scooped a number of international awards rewarding the guys for their efforts.
The awards acknowledge both the taste and the bottle design, giving confidence that KURO can offer both style and substance to any back bar, home bar or retail shelf.
